This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in blue over blue vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a retractable blue soft top, 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, twin SU carburetors, chrome bumpers with overriders, Lucas driving lights, burl wood dash veneers, a Lecarra steering wheel, and a heater. The car is said to have been refurbished during previous ownership in the 1980’s and subsequently spent time in Texas and Connecticut before being acquired by the seller in 2019. This BJ8 Mk III is offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a tool kit, and New York registration in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been refinished in its current shade of blue during previous ownership. Exterior details include a retractable blue soft top, chrome bumpers with overriders, a front badge bar, Lucas driving lights, headlight stone protectors, a hood vent, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are equipped with two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 165-series Vredstein Sprint S80 tires. A full-size spare is stored in the trunk, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The rear shocks were reportedly replaced during current ownership.
The cabin features front buckets and rear cushions trimmed in blue vinyl upholstery with pleated inserts. Amenities include quarter vent windows, burl wood dash veneers, a locking glovebox, lap belts, and a heater.
The three-spoke wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The fuel gauge is inoperable. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is said to have been overhauled in 2002 and was factory rated at 148 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Equipment includes twin SU carburetors and a polished Austin Healy-branded valve cover. Work carried out in 2021 involved an oil change, timing and carburetor adjustments, and replacement of the battery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a tool kit are included in the sale.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
