Car to be at auction 10/22
www.artcurial.com/en/lot-1959-austin-healey-3000-mk1-4284-37
Auction description:
Sale Automobiles sur les Champs - 16 october 2022 /Lot 37 1959 Austin Healey 3000 MK1
Dutch title
Chassis no HBT72611
- Very neat older preparation
- Overdrive and front disc brakes
- Original and powerful car
This Healey is one of our collector's favourite cars. When he came across it at the Essen Motor Show around twenty years ago, he was impressed by the work carried out in the 1990s by a Dutch specialist. The mechanical part was taken care of; the engine is powered by 3 Weber carburettors and a modern alternator and a lateral exhaust have been fitted.
The interior is reminiscent of plane cockpits. It has a Moto-Lita steering wheel placed on the right and the driver is surrounded by various tippers and lights set up in the best possible way to avoid taking his eyes off the road. The switch activating the Overdrive has been cleverly placed on the gear lever knob. A headrest similar to the one on the Jaguar D-Type has been adapted to the bodywork, giving the car an aggressive look.
Our collector enjoyed driving it at many rallies in Belgium, such as the Rallye des Ardennes. It is in good condition and has consistently been serviced for 20 years by his personal mechanic, a specialist in British cars. Sold with its FIVA card and an old Dutch title, this car is ideal to take part in regularity rallies.
