This 1955 Austin-Healey 100 BN1 roadster was initially delivered in Germany and was relocated to the US before suffering an engine failure in the late 1960s. The car remained in a state of disuse until it was acquired by the seller in 2016. A replacement 2.7-liter inline-four was sourced and rebuilt with an aluminum cylinder head, high-compression pistons, dual SU H6 carburetors, and a Denis Welch Racing oil sump and valve cover. The three-speed manual transmission and rear axle were resealed, and replacement metal was fitted before the bodywork was finished in primer. This 100 project is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, parts invoices, spare and removed parts, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The seller states that the replacement 2.7-liter inline-four was rebuilt to 100M specification, and components include the following:
SU H6 carburetors
Denis Welch Racing oil sump
Denis Welch Racing valve cover
Aluminum cylinder head
High-compression pistons
Performance camshaft
Spin-on oil filter
Aftermarket heat shield
The driver-side footwell, rocker panels, and boot floor have been replaced, and the body has been finished in primer. Pitting on the floor pans is noted. A 100M-style bonnet is installed.
The three-speed manual transmission and the rear axle were resealed by the seller in 2018.
Smiths gauges are included in the sale along with an ignition lock barrel and an overdrive switch.
Various replacement, spare, and refurbished parts include brake and suspension components, lighting, radiators, trim pieces, and a clutch disc.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate shows that the car was initially delivered in Germany and lists production numbers and information. The uninstalled serial number tag is included.
Photos showing the condition of the car when it was acquired are included along with photos of stages of bodywork and spare parts.
