Nice driver. Updated interior and paint. Mechanicals are good, without any current documentation of re-build history. Car appears as per factory with exception of non-leather interior and modern base/clear paint, unknown if paint is color-matched to factory. 48-spoke painted wheels.

Lot #264100

This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 roadster underwent a cosmetic refurbishment in the early 2000s, and work following the selling dealer’s 2024 acquisition involved rebuilding the 2.7-liter inline-four, the four-speed manual transmission, and the overdrive unit. The engine was fitted with .040″ pistons, the block and flywheel were resurfaced, and the rotating assembly was balanced. The tires and exhaust system were also replaced. Details include red-and-white paintwork, black upholstery, and a black soft top and tonneau cover as well as 15″ wire wheels, auxiliary lights, fender-mounted mirrors, and a cabin heater. This 100 is now offered in Oregon with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, refurbishment photos, and a clean Virginia title.

The red-over-white paintwork was applied in the early 2000s, and the car is equipped with a black soft top and tonneau cover, an adjustable windshield, auxiliary lights, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

Silver-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were installed in 2024. Braking is handled by drums at each corner, and the front sway bar bushings were replaced in 2026.

The selling dealer notes that the cabin was refreshed in the early 2000s. Black upholstery covers the bucket seats, and interior appointments include a heater, a passenger grab handle, and door pockets. A battery kill switch is located in the trunk.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles, approximately 100 miles of which were added under current ownership.

The car is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-four that was rebuilt in 2025 with .040″ pistons, and other work included resurfacing the block and flywheel, balancing the rotating assembly, and grinding the valves. The fuel sending unit was also replaced.

The engine is backed by a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, both of which were rebuilt in 2025. Work also involved replacing the clutch operating lever and clutch kit, while the exhaust system was replaced in 2026.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was built on January 26th, 1956, and lists the factory serial numbers, colors, and equipment.

A seller-provided image compares the VIN listed on the current Virginia title to the engine number, 1B230381M as the VIN.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
