This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 roadster was fitted with a 289ci Ford V8 circa 1970 before being acquired by the seller’s father in 1972. The car was later given to the seller in 2003, after which it received a five-speed manual transmission in 2006 as well as a repaint in red in 2020. The engine is equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor as well as Ford Performance exhaust headers, while gear changes are via a Hurst shifter. Further equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, retrofitted front disc brakes, and a dual exhaust system along with black vinyl–trimmed bucket seats, Stewart-Warner instrumentation, and a Sears-branded radio. This modified 100-6 is now offered with a removable black soft top, tonneau cover, and side curtains as well as a Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The body was stripped and repainted in its current red finish in 2020. The car features a hood scoop, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders as well as a removable black soft top, tonneau cover, and side curtains.
The 72-spoke wire wheels measure 15″ in diameter and were painted black in 2026. They are mounted with 205/70 Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tires. Braking is handled by retrofitted front discs from Ol Phartz Partz paired with rear drums. The seller recommends servicing the steering as well as replacing the rear leaf springs.
The bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl and paired with latch-and-link belts. A Sears-branded AM/FM radio is installed below the dash, and further details include a cabin heater, a dash-mounted mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, and door pockets. The seller tells us that the carpets have been replaced.
A banjo-style steering wheel is paired with a Hurst shifter and fronts retrofitted Stewart-Warner instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
According to the seller, the 289ci Ford V8 was installed under previous ownership in 1970.The engine breathes through a single Holley four-barrel carburetor and has Ford Performance exhaust headers as well as a copper radiator with an electric pusher fan. The starter was reportedly replaced in 2023.
The replacement Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission was reportedly installed in 2006 along with a replacement clutch assembly. The dual exhaust system features glasspack mufflers.
Photos taken at various stages of the 2020 repaint process are provided in the gallery below.
The current Maryland title is marked as a Duplicate or Corrected Copy.
