1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mark II

My 1964 Austin Healey is complete.

Seller 4142bev

Current bid $1,000 one bid, 6 days left in auction reserve not met $15,000 Buy It Now price

This is a restoration project, but the parts are complete. I have a comprehensive British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate number 2008/14065 that outlines that this 1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mark II Convertible is confirmed by the original factory records. The reason I'm selling my 1964 Austin Healey is recognizing the reality, that at 85 years of age, I don't have the time or the ability to complete the restoration.

In 1962, I asked my wife to marry me in my 1959 Austin Healey. During our 63 years of marriage we have own five different Austin Healeys. This 1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mark II is by far the most rust free and solid Healey we have undertaken to restore.

First, the positive aspects of the Healey. The body was removed from the frame and the frame was particle blasted and painted the original red color. The engine, transmission, and rear-end are original to the Healey, and were also cleaned and the original colors were maintained. The brake lines are new and all of the mechanical parts have been cleaned and installed, with the exception of the original starter motor. I purchased a new Lucas starter motor that is still in the box that comes with the Healey ( The original starter motor which needs to be rebuilt, also come with it). In preparation for paint, all of the fenders, doors and seats were removed and cleaned for painting. As shown in the photos, the fenders, bumpers, and seats have been attached to the body for shipping. Both bumpers and bumper guards have been re-chromed and are in excellent condition. The doors are ready for paint and come with the window cranks and door glass. Both the exterior and interior door handles have been re-chromed and ready for installation after painting. The hood (Bonnet) and trunk (boot) are ready for paint and have all of the attachments. The hood grille and the trunk badges are brand new.

A new, original, wiring harness has been installed from the front headlights to the taillights. The new headlight rims are still in the Moss Motors boxes. The complete new interior comes with the Healey. New original pattern seats, rugs, door panels and top are still in the original packing. The interior is black with red beads as shown in the photos. Also, the new fender beads come with the Healey. The original wood dash is in the car, and a new complete wood dash, still in the box, comes with the Healey. From chrome trim pieces to the new door henge bolts, the numerous small parts necessary for the restoration are too many to list, but all come with it.

Second, the negative aspects, it needs to have the new starter installed. The engine is free and will run. It also has a new set of spark plug wires that need to be installed, and a new battery, before starting. The original gas tank has been professionally cleaned and the fuel lines are hooked up, but the gas tank needs the straps, which are there, but need to be installed. Continuing with the negative aspects, the spare tire is missing. All four wire wheels and tires are in good shape, but the knock-offs are useable but not show worthy. The doors need to be installed. All of the parts needed for the door installation or there, but they need to be installed. The door sills are new and still in the box.

In conclusion, this is a restoration project, but the difficult issues in a restoration of an Austin Healey have been completed. It is my hope that the Healey will be purchase and the satisfaction of completing my work will be accomplished and enjoyed.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
