This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was acquired by the seller as an in-process project in 2023 and subsequently completed from 2024 to 2025. Work involved resealing the 2.9-liter inline-six, installing a replacement steering box, servicing the brakes, overhauling the suspension, refreshing the interior, and more as detailed below. The car is finished in Healey Blue and Old English White with a blue soft top over blue vinyl upholstery and rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission coupled with an electric overdrive unit, and additional equipment includes a hood scoop and dual SU carburetors as well as a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel and a push-button radio. This 3000 Mk III is now offered by the seller with a Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Healey Blue and Old English White and was fitted with a replacement blue soft top following the seller’s acquisition. It is further equipped with a hood scoop, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with two-ear knock-offs and mounted with 195/65 Nexen tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The seller tells us that the steering box was replaced, the brakes were serviced, the suspension was overhauled, and the wheels and tires were fitted under their ownership.
The refreshed 2+2 cabin features replacement bucket seats trimmed in blue vinyl as well as replacement blue door panels and carpets. Additional work under current ownership is said to have involved refinishing the burled walnut dash trim, coating the floors, and rebuilding the push-button AM radio. A heater, a dash-mounted mirror, and quarter-vent windows are further details.
The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The seller tells us that work in 2025 involved resealing the engine in addition to installing an aluminum radiator and replacing the water pump and hoses, the fuel pump and lines, and the alternator.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission mated to an electrically actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit.
The current Pennsylvania title carries an “Antique Vehicle” brand.
