This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was purchased out of Missouri by its current owner in 2000 for recreational use. Finished in silver over black vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a top boot, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk III is offered by the seller on behalf of their spouse with parts and service records along with a clean Oregon title in the owner’s name.

Previously finished in blue, the car underwent a color change to its current shade of silver under prior ownership. The black convertible soft top’s rear-window zipper is broken, and other exterior details include a black top boot and tonneau cover, a hood scoop, dual fender-mounted mirrors, bright trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes a mark on the left-side window.

Wire-spoke 15″ knock-off wheels are mounted with 165-section Michelin XZX tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The 2+2 cabin’s front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl. Additional appointments include a cabin heater, a locking glovebox, front lap belts, and wood trim.

The wood-rimmed Lecarra steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge for oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 2,500 miles and has rolled over, and the seller approximates 3,200 miles driven under current ownership.

The 2.9-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual SU HD8 carburetors and was rated at 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. There is an oil leak at the back of the engine.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. Under current ownership, a metal plate was added under the driver’s footwell to address rust damage.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
