This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in green with a black soft top over black vinyl–trimmed 2+2 seating and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and an electrically actuated overdrive unit. It rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels and is further equipped with front disc brakes, a banjo-style steering wheel, and wood interior trim. The car was acquired by the seller in 2014, and work in 2018 involved rebuilding the dual SU carburetors, installing a stainless-steel exhaust system, and more as detailed below. This 3000 Mk III is now offered at no reserve with vehicle literature, service records, spare parts, tools, and a Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in green and wears a replacement folding black soft top paired with a matching top boot. Additional details include a hood scoop, bullet-style mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-offs and mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with contrasting piping. The dash is accented with wood trim, and further interior appointments include a heater, a locking glovebox, a dash-mounted mirror.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Work in 2018 involved rebuilding the carburetors as well as replacing the fuel pump, distributor, spark plugs, and ignition wires.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The clutch master cylinder was replaced and a stainless-steel exhaust was installed in 2018.
A collection of vehicle literature, parts, and tools will accompany the car.
The current Pennsylvania title lists an Antique Vehicle brand.
