Lot #271025
This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was inherited by the current owner in 2026 from its long-term prior owner, who purchased the car in the 1970s and commissioned a refurbishment between 2007 and 2008. It is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and is finished in two-tone metallic blue and ivory over black upholstery. Equipment includes a blue soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a tonneau cover, a hood scoop, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk III is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a tonneau cover, and a Maryland title.
The car was repainted metallic blue and ivory white during the restoration, at which time rust repairs were performed. Equipment includes a blue soft top, dual fender-mounted Talbot Berlin mirrors, Lucas driving lights, a front badge bar, and a hood scoop. LED bulbs were installed in 2022. The seller notes a gap between the right side window and soft top.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Toyo Tires Extensa All-Season tires measuring 185/65. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that were re-trimmed during the refurbishment. Replacement carpets and a wood shift knob were also installed, and the car is equipped with burl wood trim, lap belts, a map light, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Work in 2022 involved installing an aluminum oil pan and replacing the coolant overflow tank and battery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. A replacement exhaust system with Bell mufflers and resonators was installed in May 2022 along with a replacement overdrive solenoid and relay.
Included in the sale is a collection of spare parts, a soft top boot, a tonneau cover, a knock-off tool, a jack, service records, and a driver’s handbook.
The Maryland title lists “Actual” under the odometer brand section.
