Car offered by:

Seller's description:
1962 Austin Healey 3000, BT7 Description
Purchased by current (2nd) Owner in 1975. Was disassembled in 1980, stored until 2002 when it was subjected to a thorough nut-and-bolt, two-year (“cost-was-no-object”) restoration.
Car has never been driven in the rain (been topless throughout these years), stored in controlled climate with Owner’s other British classics.
A Parrish Plastics fiberglass hard-top is furnished with the car. It is currently black, but Owner will have it painted to Buyer’s specification at no additional cost. These tops are a bit more “roomier” than the factory tops, and considerably lighter, allowing installation & removal to be a one-person endeavor.
Car was built to resemble a 1960’s-era club racer, but never used in competitive racing other than AHS&T Club’s annual ‘Encounter’ (60-second autocross). Owner “signed” a verbal pre-nup to never get into racing actively.
Engine was rebuilt by renowned seven-figure car restorer, Leydon Restorations, Lahaska, PA. A number of their restorations have won at events such as Pebble Beach & Amelia Island. His build log is supplied with the car. Video of initial dyno run may also be available. This was Chris’ last project before retiring as a favor to the Owner.
The “mild race” cam & triple DCOE45 Weber carbs, manifold & headers, side exhaust system fabricated/furnished by Dennis Welch Enterprises in England. This firm is probably the most successful vintage Grand Prix car set-up firm in Europe for Austin Healeys & E-type Jaguars.
Electronic distributer and oversized fuel pump installed to satisfy demand of the Webers.
Exhaust has the note of the V8 powered Allards of this era.
Welch’s competition anti-sway bars (front & rear) added: produces incredible stability during tight turns compared to original.
A Nissan 5-speed transmission is fitted (conversion by Smitty’s). Original 4-speed transmission is available if desired.
Shod with Mini-lite wheels and low-profile tires. Virtually new. Original wire wheels are available if desired.
Front brakes are disk, rear drum.
Car is equipped with a 4-point roll bar that is bolted to frame (not welded), thus does not meet current SCCA autocross specs. It is padded with French-stitch covering to match custom-fitted tonneau. Stitching done by Mark Spiro of Futureline (go-to guy for most of the area’s exotic car dealers and vintage restoration shops in Philadelphia area).
Roll bar can be easily removed, allowing seat to be extended back several inches for more leg room.
This BT7 has been shown at numerous popular car shows in tandom with wife’s BN7 (both tri-carbs, have same color combination but reversed). Cars have garnered dozens of best-in-class trophies over the last 15 years.
A few ancilliaries (such as front bumper) are not installed or modified (rear ‘nerf bars fabricated from original bumper overriders) to give car Owner’s desired “look”. These original parts are available at no additional cost if Buyer wishes to return car to a more “stock” appearance.
Car will be fully serviced and have current PA inspection sticker at time of sale. It is currently being re-jetted by Innovative Racing Technology in West Chester, PA. Should be completed first week of August.
Owner may still have the 2002-2003 restoration log and parts receipts.
Owner was planning to sell wife’s BN7 due to its rarity (and therefore much higher value), but if the offer for this BT7 is reasonable, he could be swayed.
