This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ7 MkII is a 2+2 convertible that was completed in September 1961 and acquired by the seller in 2019 from the previous owner of approximately 15 years. Finished in white with a black soft top over a matching vinyl interior, the car is powered by a 302ci Ford V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional features include knock-off wire wheels, a bullet-style driver’s side-view mirror, and chrome bumpers and trim. Work in 2020 has reportedly consisted of a fuel tank cleaning, fluid changes, and the installation of replacement spark plugs and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. This Austin-Healey is now being offered with an owner’s manual, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.
The car was factory-finished in Ivory White and was repainted some time during prior ownership. Features include a black soft top with a matching tonneau cover as well as chrome bumpers, trim, and a bullet-style driver’s side-view mirror. The bumper has a dent, the seller notes that the side curtains are missing.
The silver-painted wire wheels feature knockoff hubs with polished spinners, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by front discs with rear drums, and the car rides on front coil springs with leaf springs out back.
The 2+2 interior features seats trimmed in black vinyl with white piping and a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Additional equipment includes a heater and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror.
A three-spoke banjo-style steering wheel with a lace-up leather covering frames Smiths instrumentation that is said to be inoperable. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and amperage are mounted beneath the dash. Over 600 miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, though total mileage is unknown.
The 302ci Ford V8 was installed some time during prior ownership and features a Holley four-barrel carburetor along with Ford Racing-branded valve covers. The seller reports that the fuel tank was removed and boiled around a year ago, and additional work included fluid changes, replacement spark plugs, and the installation of an aluminum radiator with an electric fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford three-speed automatic transmission. Areas of corrosion and missing paint are visible underneath, and additional images are viewable below.
The BMIHT certificate shows a completion date of September 7, 1961 and lists the factory colors, equipment, and serial numbers.

Lot #246458
This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk II was completed in September 1961 and delivered new to San Francisco, California. The roadster underwent a repaint and was fitted with a 302ci Ford V8 at some point prior to 2019 before being acquired by the seller on BaT in April 2021. It subsequently underwent over $49k of updates by British Car Specialists of Stockton, California, and Precision Machines of Lodi, California, in 2021 and 2022. The engine was rebuilt with a replacement block, stroked to displace 331ci, and fitted with a Brawler Diecast carburetor, a Summit Racing camshaft, and Edelbrock E-Street cylinder heads. Additional work involved performing various cosmetic updates, rebuilding the front suspension, servicing the Ford three-speed automatic transmission, and more as detailed below. Finished in white, the car rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels and features front disc brakes as well as retrofitted telescopic front shocks. Inside, 2+2 seating trimmed in black vinyl with white piping is accompanied by a banjo-style steering wheel and a Smiths heater. This 3000 Mk II was purchased by the seller in 2021 and is now offered in El Dorado Hills, California, with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a black soft top and tonneau cover along with a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.
The body was factory-finished in Ivory White (WT3) and was repainted at some point prior to 2021. The front bumper was replaced by British Car Specialists in 2021, while work in 2022 by Precision Machines involved painting the trunk lid, refinishing various trim pieces, and retrofitting LED headlamps. The car wears a black soft top with a matching tonneau cover and features a bullet-style mirror on the driver’s door as well as front and rear bumper overriders. The seller notes that a paint correction was carried out ahead of the sale.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are secured via two-ear spinners and mounted with 165/80 Nexen tires. The car rides on front coil springs paired with retrofitted telescopic shocks and retains leaf springs with lever-arm shocks out back, while braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The front suspension was rebuilt and the replacement wheels were installed by British Car Specialists in 2021, while the brakes were serviced by Precision Machines in 2022.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in in black vinyl with white piping as well as a color-coordinated dash, door panels, and carpets. A Lokar shift knob was added under current ownership, and further details include a Smiths heater, a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, and front lap belts.
A three-spoke banjo-style steering wheel wears a lace-up leather covering and fronts an electronic Smiths 7k-rpm tachometer and 140-mph speedometer with a digital odometer that were installed by British Car Specialists in 2021 as well as retained auxiliary gauges. The retrofitted odometer indicates 347 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The previously installed Ford small-block V8 was rebuilt with a replacement block and stroked to displace 331ci by Precision Machines in December 2002. The process involved steam cleaning, hot tanking, and repainting various parts as well as machining the block, balancing the rotating assembly, bead-blasting the intake manifold, and ceramic-coating the exhaust system. Records of the work in the gallery list the following components:
Brawler Diecast 570-CFM carburetor
Edelbrock E-Street cylinder heads
Summit Racing hydraulic flat tappet camshaft
Crane chromoly pushrods
Hydraulic lifters
Roller-tip rockers
Custom alloy radiator with SPAL electric pusher fan
PerTronix electronic ignition
Powermaster starter
The Ford three-speed automatic transmission and rear axle were serviced at the time of the engine rebuild and various repairs were also made to the frame by Precision Machines in 2022.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate notes a completion date of September 7, 1961, and lists factory colors, equipment, and serial numbers.
