This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk II underwent a repaint in black, an interior re-trim in red upholstery, a rebuild of its 2.9-liter inline-six, and overhauls of its four-speed manual transmission and overdrive unit as part of a refurbishment completed from 2010 to 2012. The car rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels and is fitted with servo-assisted front disc brakes, triple SU carburetors, and a Falcon stainless-steel exhaust system. It wears a black soft top accompanied by detachable side windows and is further equipped with 2+2 seating and a cabin heater. Acquired by the current owner in 2021, this 3000 Mk II is now offered on dealer consignment in Hayden, Idaho, by HTSmith—a BaT Local Partner—with vehicle literature, records, spare parts, a tonneau cover, a car cover, and a Montana title.
The car was repainted black under previous ownership. It is accompanied by a removable black soft top with detachable side windows as well as a matching tonneau cover, and further details include a hood scoop, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 185-width Coker Classic redline tires. The braking system with fitted with servo assistance as part of an overhaul completed in 2024. The system features front discs paired with red-finished rear drums. The selling dealer notes that the right-rear shock is leaking.
The re-trimmed 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in red upholstery with black piping as well as a heater, a dash-mounted mirror, and door storage pockets. Dynamat sound deadening material is said to have been laid below the red carpets as part of the interior refurbishment that was completed circa 2012. The parking brake handle was replaced in 2024.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured triple SU HS4 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 136 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. The long block was disassembled and repainted as part of a rebuild completed in 2010 and 2011. The carburetors were replaced at that time, and a PerTronix ignition was later added in 2016. Work since 2023 has involved replacing the valve cover gasket, fuel pump, and battery. The car is further equipped with a Falcon stainless-steel exhaust system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The transmission and overdrive unit were overhauled in 2010. Work since 2023 has included replacing the differential pinion seal and carrier nuts. The selling dealer notes leaks from the overdrive unit and rear axle. The car is further equipped with red-finished front and rear anti-sway bars.
A collection of vehicle literature, records, and parts is included in the sale.
The current Montana title lists the car as a “300 Mk III” using the chassis number HBT7L17599 prepended with the number “62” as the VIN. The notation “Classic (25)/WA” appears under the Brand section.
