This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk I was acquired by the current owner in 1978, and it has been refinished in British Racing Green over beige leather. The car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and equipment includes a tan soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a hood scoop, an AM/FM radio, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk I is now offered in Wisconsin by the seller on behalf of the current owner at no reserve with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, the owner’s manual, and a clean Minnesota title in the owner’s name.
Finished from the factory in Florida Green, the car was repainted British Racing Green approximately 35 years ago. Features include a removable tan soft top, a hood scoop, wire headlight covers, a left-side mirror, a locking fuel cap, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires that show date codes from 2022. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that were re-trimmed in beige leather with green piping in the 1990s, and black carpets line the floors. A Motorola AM/FM transistor radio has been added along with an antenna.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles miles, approximately 20k of which were added under current ownership. The clock is inoperative.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 137 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. A larger cooling fan has been added, and the battery was replaced in 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors, optional equipment, and a build date of August 25, 1959.
